I visited Able2B gym in Norwich to meet co-founder Jon Thaxton who talked me through their origins helping people affected by Parkinsons disease and how this groundbreaking work inspired fellow co-founder Rachael Hutchinson to develop training programs for disabled adults and children. From the early days in a tin-hut boxing gym on the outskirts of Norwich to a modern fully adapted gym off Hall Road, complete with a hydrotherapy pool, the services offered have continued to expand and include group and one-to-one sessions for people with physical and learning disabilities, group sessions for carers, educational classes for special needs schools, care home classes, business support and training as well as medical referrals. While based in Norwich, clients come from all over Norfolk & Suffolk. The levels of energy in the gym are a testament to the whole team at Able2B and I look forward to following their plans for expansion in the future.
